Jenny Macdonald is a Western Medical Herbalist who qualified from Edinburgh Napier University with a four year BSc (Hons) in Phytotherapy (Herbal Medicine). Having recently moved from the Scottish Borders she hopes to establish a practice within the area. Jenny has a keen interest in preventative and nutritional medicine and tries to combine both traditional and modern approaches to herbal medicine into each of her patient’s management plans. She is very interested in the relationship between herbal medicine and orthodox medicine and continues to explore how the relationship between the two disciplines can develop in the future. When you attend an appointment with Jenny you should expect a thorough case history to be taken as well as your blood pressure and any other examinations that are necessary. After a Herbal management plan will be discussed, including referral for further tests if necessary, and the appropriate herbs will be prescribed and explained to you. Due to the in depth nature of consultations it is important that you feel comfortable so a relaxed, friendly and confidential atmosphere is created in order you to be yourself and give Jenny a chance to get to know you as well as your conditions. After the initial consultation a repeat appointment will be made for two to three week later, depending on withier is a chronic or acute condition. During these shorter repeat consultations Jenny will be able to monitor your progress and adapt your prescription and management plan if necessary. It will also give you the opportunity to address other physical or mental issues and ask any questions you may have. Herbal medicine can be used to a vast number of conditions in all ages groups and it this variety in people and their stories that continues to inspire Jenny as a herbalist.
