Rhodiola Rosea is known in German-speaking countries mostly under the name of rose root. It is a thick leafed plant and grows mainly in northern Europe, Asia and North America.
High-quality Rhodiola preparations consist of root extracts, not just powders of the ground root. Therefore, only the nutrient-rich roots of the plant are harvested and extracted for our Rhodiola.
The Greek doctor Dioskurides was probably the first to describe the medical use of “”””rodia riza”””” in 77 AD. Because of the rose-like odor of a freshly cut rootstock, the Swedish botanist Carl von Linné gave this plant the name Rhodiola rosea. Rhodiola rosea was used medicinally in France and Sweden in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The key ingredients in Rhodiola are rosavins, salidroside, flavonoids and monoterpenes.
